Christmas time is generally chex mix time. The combo boxes and even the sizes of the normal cereal boxes are not equivalent to have each cereal complete together without random bits of left over cereal.
I saw this recipe and knew we just had to try it!

Wow! Who knew rice krispies could combine with a sugar syrup to create a delicious treat!
There is a lot of syrup so a little extra cereal is ok!

Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Pour cereals into a large bowl, then set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and then stir in the brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a boil while continuously stirring. Continue cooking the bubbling mixture for 2-3 minutes until it thickens and lightens in color.
- Remove from heat and immediately pour over cereal. Toss to evenly coat, then spread into an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 7-9 minutes.
- Allow crackle to cool then break into small clusters. Store in an airtight container.
Verdict:
This is amazing – and addictive.
I used whiskey barrel salt as a nice addition!
If you try this, let me know what you think!
