Another fun cookie recipe using spent grain. I love getting adventurous with spent grain and making yummies!
I think the chocolate quotient could be raised (i upped it to 1 cup in the recipe as printed), and the melted butter makes them cakie which is my least favorite way to make a cookie, but they don’t spread a ton and are pretty tasty.
Spent Grain Kahlua Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 stick unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 1/2 cup spent grain
- 1/3 cup Kahlua
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs beaten
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl combine the melted butter, beaten eggs, brown sugar, Kahlua and vanilla.
- Mix well.
- Stir in the spent grain.
- Add the flour, salt and baking powder and stir it in using a fork.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Spoon over parchment paper or silpat lined cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes at 425°F.
Verdict:
Not a bad way to use some spent grain and add some texture to a cookie.
