I found this recipe when i was looking for some interesting desserts that could be made in the air fryer – so it doesn’t heat up the house!
I used some silicone muffin pans that fit just grand into each of the trays, that were bought originally for the instant pot, but works great in the air fryer, oven and more!
The pan worked great to hold the donut holes in a good shape.
After a couple tries, definitely don’t fill them too high, cook them for 10 min, and allow them to sit in the molds for 10 min or more to hold together!
Air Fryer Glazed Chocolate Donut Holes
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream divided
- ¼ cup chocolate chips
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, stir the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking powder together.
- Add the vanilla extract, salted butter, and ⅔ cup heavy whipping cream.
- Stir until the batter is smooth.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop the batter to a silicone mold, filling up ¾ of the way.
- Place into the air fryer and set to 350°F. Cook for 10 minutes.
- While the donut holes are cooking, prepare the glaze.
- Add the powdered sugar and 4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream to a small bowl and whisk to combine.
- Let the donuts cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
- Remove donut holes from the mold, toss in the glaze or pour over the top, and place on a wire cooling rack to allow excess glaze to drip off.
- Let set for 5 minutes and serve.
Verdict:
These are rich! The original recipe indicated it should be a pourable batter, that was not what I experienced. Perhaps additional milk vs cream.
The 10 min cook time is perfect, just need them to have enough time to bind in a donut hole better.
I liked pouring the glaze on a cooled hole
