I recently finally succumb to the ads and bought a usb chargable electric scrubber.
Our shower is all tile and our water has a ton of minerals – aka red/brown are color we see as stains… sigh. Gotta stay on top of it!
I knew i didn’t want to stick myself in a small enclosed box to scrub with nasty chemicals, so onto the interwebs I went. I found this recipe.
I make a batch at a time and use most of it and toss the rest and i want fresh bubbles each time!
Shower Cleaner Scrub
Do this after someone has showered
Do the edges first, then the walls, then the floor
Ingredients
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 1/4 cup of castile soap
- 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide
- 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil – or whatever you like
- 2 drops of lavender essential oil
Instructions
- Add baking soda to the container.
- Stir in castile soap, hydrogen peroxide, and lemongrass and lavendar essential oils.
- Use the back of a scrub brush to scoop the shower cleaner onto the shower or tub walls. (or rubber spoon you used to mix it together)
- Use the brush to spread the mixture over the whole tub. Pay extra attention to heavy grime and stubborn stains.
- Let the cleaner work its magic, then wipe off with a wet cloth.
- Rinse clean.
Verdict:
This stuff works well. As it has baking soda take care if you have scratchable portions of your shower.
Without a damp shower this is really hard to work on your walls.
I usually skip the damp cloth wipe down, but that could help with stubborn stains better.
If you try this stuff or have a different scrubber, let me know what you think!
You will get it on you… I have hubby shower first, i clean the shower, get covered in cleaner then rinse the show and take my shower.
