These 2 condiments a vital to making the okonomiyaki – japanese pancake all that they were!
Honestly I would definitely just buy a bottle of kewpie mayo. Besides the packaging being adorable, so much easier!
Hubby wasn’t a fan of the sauce, but obviously loved the mayo!
Kewpie Mayonnaise

Ingredients
- 4 egg yolks
- 4 TBSP rice vinegar
- 2 TBSP malt vinegar
- 1 tsp red miso
- 11⁄2 tsp mustard powder
- 1⁄2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 cups vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, vinegars, miso, mustard powder, sugar, and salt.
- While whisking quickly, stream in the oil to emulsify the sauce.
- Taste and season with additional mustard or salt if desired.

Ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup ketchup
- 1⁄2 cup worcestershire sauce
- 3 TBSP tamari
- 2 TBSP honey
- 2 TBSP rice vinegar
- 1 TBSP ground ginger
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 4 tsp water
Instructions
- In a small pot, combine all the ingredients except for the cornstarch and water.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce it to a low simmer.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to form a slurry.
- Add one teaspoon of the slurry at a time to the sauce, stirring constantly until it begins to thicken until it is thick like a bbq sauce.
- Remove it from the heat and allow to cool.
Verdict:
These 2 condiments make quite a bit. I halved them for the amount of pancakes I was making.
