This was originally for the crockpot, but we recently bought a ninja air fryer and decided maybe putting the chicken in that would be an interesting way to change up this recipe and have it be a quicker way to cook it up.
We found the hoisin to make the resulting outcome to sweet, but combined with some nice fried rice, it all rounded out perfectly!

Ingredients
- 1 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into one inch cubes
- 2 tbl cornstarch
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1 T soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1.5 Tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/8 tsp dry ginger
- ½ – 1 tsp crushed red pepper (more or less to liking)
Instructions
- In a small pan whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, ginger and crushed red pepper. Bring to boil and then simmer for 15-20 min until is thickens
- In a mixing bowl add the chicken and cornstarch. Toss until the chicken is completely coated in the cornstarch
- Heat air fryer to 350
- Spray the air fryer bin with cooking spray
- Place chicken in a single layer
- Cook for 12 minutes, shaking after the chicken starts to crisp.
- Once the chicken is done, toss in the sauce and enjoy.
Verdict:
Air frying the chicken was amazing and crispy! The sauce was a bit sweet but was great on the chicken!
